How to choose the right egg donor
Matching you with a donor
At AVA-Peter, we match you to an egg donor who fulfils your own individual requirements. Our matching process is highly personal, and we do not proceed unless you are happy with the donor we put forward for you. It is up to you to tell us which characteristics are most important to you when choosing a donor. We respect your choice.
How the process works at Ava-Peter
All the egg donors we provide have been thoroughly tested for medical and psychological fitness during ourrecruitment and screening process. Whichever one we choose, you can be confident that she meets these requirements.
We believe in matching you in a very individual way to the right donor. This means that we personally meet you at your Initial Consultation in order to assess you better before suggesting a donor (unless you use our Shared Care programme). We always try to find out what characteristics are most important to you. For most infertile women, this involves finding a donor who physically resembles them as much as possible. We therefore provide comprehensive non-identifying information about their egg donor (i.e. such information that does not contain any personal data). We always meet our donors personally to make sure the match is correct.
To meet the requirements of donor anonymity under Russian law, Ava-Peter does not supply photographs of donors. However, we take photographs of egg donors and egg recipients, and compare them in order to provide as close a match as possible. This is of course particularly important if you do not come for an Initial Consultation.
When selecting an anonymous egg donor, we consider similarities in terms of appearance (race, height, build, eye, hair and skin colour), and try to find you the most attractive donor who fits your profile. We can also match for blood group and Rhesus factor. As a donor’s intellectual abilities are also often an important aspect, we note her educational level and provide details of her occupation. In addition, we can search for a donor who has particular characteristics (such as a Jewish donor) if couples have special concerns. Many of our donors are of North European appearance, with blue/green/grey eyes and blonde or brown hair. It is therefore almost always possible to match you with a brunette or blonde donor who has the same eye colour as yourself.
Once you have told us your requirements, we search through Ava-Peter’s databank for the most suitable donor. We always meet our donors personally to ensure the best possible match. We give you details of our proposed donor’s age, height, weight, hair colour, eye colour, education, occupation, and the age of her child/ren, and ask you to make a decision. If you are not happy with the donor we have suggested, you are of course free to ask us to make another match. We do understand the extremely sensitive nature of egg donation treatment, and will only go ahead when you are happy with your choice.
