Making decision about egg donation
The most difficult task for a patient is to accept the fact that egg donation program should be used. Every doctor understands that patients have difficulties making this decision. There are no standard solutions to overcome this crises. Everybody has his/her own way and the doctor tries ably or awkwardly to help you get through this phase. Finally the crucial key point is motivation – the desire to have a child and keep relations with your partner, who provides almost half of the genetic material of your child.
Most people understand that difficulties and happiness of the child-bearing, a painful childbirth, the creation of a new human being, cares and problems of the first year, first steps, first words, your sleepless nights and continuous headache – Where is he/she? How is he/she? – all of it won't leave a trace of a made decision in your memory. And if one day after everything you experienced, you decide to tell your grown-up child that you are not his/her genetic mother, then you shouldn't be surprised if he/she doesn't pay attention to your words. You are forever the only Mom for him/her.
At the same time if you wasn't able to make this decision, nobody is to blame you, moreover both your partner and the doctor will understand you. Many psychologists dedicated hundreds of pages to studies of such issues and you will join a good few of those who dismissed their daring ideas of having a child.
